Why do I need to use lotion? If you want your body to be healthy, you feed it, right? The same goes for your skin. Feed it with moisturizers formulated for tanners. Use a lotion designed to replace the moisture lost while in the tanning unit and give your skin that extra shot of l-tyrosine that helps you tan even faster. These products will produce healthy skin that will tan faster and also help you to keep your tan longer. Keeping your skin hydrated with special lotions designed for tanning beds can help increase your tan by 60%!
What is the difference between all the lotion types?
- Accelerator
- Accelerators are any lotion that has the ingredients to enhance the skins ability to achieve a tan. Professional accelerators are for any tanner who wants great color but not the stimulating effects of a tingle product or the added color of bronzers
- Bronzer
- Bronzing lotions are the perfect answer for someone who wants MORE! Bronzers add an extra hint of color with every application. To avoid streaking or caking (especially around knees, elbows, and h eels), apply bronzers with a circular motion, washing hands immediately after application. You can add moisturizer to lighten the tint
- Cool
- Extender
- Hot
- Maximizer
- Moisturizer
- A moisturizer will help to replenish the moisture lost due to the heat of lamps and the body fans cooling you during your session. It is important to use a good moisturizer. You invest the time and money in achieving beaututiful color, so be sure to use a good after-tanning product
- Primer
- Self-Tanner
- Skin Stimulator
- Tingle
- Tingle products stimulate the surface of the skin by causing microcirculation, much like the flush you feel from exercise. They cause the melanocytes to rise to the surface of the skin very quickly, allowing the absorption of UV rays faster, thereby producing a darker, longer lasting tan. Each person's skin is different. Test a tingle lotion on the inside of the elbow. This area is sensitive to tingles and you can determine the level of heat. Most people experience some redness immediately after tanning, which subsides within the first couple of hours
- Tingle with Bronzer
- This is a combo of tingle and bronzer (see above descriptions). You get two for the price of one! You should treat these types of lotions like a bronzer. Beware of heavy vs. light bronzers
What is the difference between lotions labeled: step 1, step 2 and step 3?
- STEP 1
- Starting out lotions... to build a rich, golden brown base tan
- Who they're for: anyone who does not have an existing base tan
- What they do: step one products are scientifically-formulated to jumpstart the development of a rich, golden-brown base tan
- When they should be used: step one products should be applied to the skin prior to each tanning session
- STEP 2
- Surging ahead lotions... for deep, dark results beyond the tanning plateau.
- Who they're for: more advance tanners who have reached the "tanning plateau," point after they've developed a base tan when they aren't getting any darker
- What they do: step two products are scientifically-formulated to condition the skin to break through the tanning plateau for deeper, darker results
- When they should be used: step two products should be applied to the skin immediately prior to each tanning session
- STEP 3
- Staying fit lotions... to preserve, protect and extend the life of your tan.
- Who they're for: all tanners at all steps of the tanning process should also be using a step three product
- What they do: step three products are scientifically-formulated with intense hydrating ingredients to preserve, protect and and extend the life of your tan. These lotions enhance tanning color, prevent peeling and replenish moisture... helping to maintain hard-earned tanning results
- When they should be used: step three products should be applied daily after bathing and after UV exposure to lock in tanning color
